Summer Bishil Bio

 Summer Bishil was raised in Pasadena (California). Her family went to Europe when she was just three. Summer was educated in American and British schools while her family lived abroad. She returned home to Pasadena, California just shy of her fourteenth birthday. Summer was just five years old when she was captivated by acting and began her first acting class. Nine months later she made an agreement with an agent as well as a manager and began to pursue her profession full-time. She is currently working towards her college degree in her spare time. She was among the young stars included in Vanity fair's cover story, "Hollywood's New Wave: The Hottest Kids in Hollywood" in August 2008.Was selected as one of the "Ten Actors to Watch" by Variety (2007).Nominee for Best Actress - Spirit Award. Bishil started her acting lessons at the age of 14 years old. Within an entire year, she was contracted to a manager and agency. Bishil began her career on the Nickelodeon TV show Just for Kicks. After that, she was signed to an agreement with a manager and agency. Her most memorable role was in Alan Ball's 2007 film Towelhead. It's an adaptation of the novel with the same title. Dana Stevens, a critic for Slate, said that Bishil's performance was "the most genuine thing" in an film that was, despite the best intentions, felt thoroughly fake and a little embarrassing. It was like an extended PSA about inappropriate touching. Bob Strauss writes for many Los Angeles newspapers and states that Bishil "...is the best natural film actress ever. Gary Goldstein, in a September 12, Los Angeles Times, review of Towelhead said that Summer Bishil ("...newcomer) provides a compelling and impressive performance as Jasira. "In 2009, she made Wayne Kramer's project Crossing Over, starring Harrison Ford, Ray Liotta and Ashley Judd, a portrayal which received some praise from the Associated Press's Jay Reiner. She was picked to play Azula in M. Night Shyamalan’s 2010 film The Last Airbender. This was to be the primary subject of the planned but never released sequel.
