Emma Watson

Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris, France, to British parents, Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson who were both lawyers. At five years old she was moved to Oxfordshire, where she attended Dragon School. Emma knew she wanted to act at when she was six years old. She studied for a few years in the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts. This part-time theatre school taught her singing, dancing and acting. She was a stagecoach actor and had taken the role of the lead in a number of Stagecoach productions. The casting process began in 1999 Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone 2001 The film adaptation of J.K. Rowling's bestselling book. Casting agents discovered Emma through her Oxford theater teacher. After eight auditions consistently Producer David Heyman told Emma and fellow applicants, Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint, that they had been cast to play the three main characters: Hermione Granger, Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. Emma's debut screen performance in cinema was in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001). The film set records for opening-day and weekend sales and was the most-grossing film of 2001. The film was praised by critics and the performances of three leading young actors. The widely distributed British newspaper The Daily Telegraph, called her performance "admirable". Emma received five awards for her performance in the movie, including the Young Artist Award, for Leading Young Actress In an feature Film. Emma became famous after the success of the first film in the Harry Potter franchise. She continued to perform the character as Hermione Granger for nearly 10 years, in all the following Harry Potter films: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001), Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002), Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004), Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005), Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007), Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009), Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 (2010) as well as Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 (2011). Emma was awarded two Critics' Choice Awards nominations from Broadcast Film Critics Association.
